Despite the attempt at reassurance, I still feel very uneasy as? I cannot see a light on the other side of the road. Nearside lights can easily be obscured by pedestrians. I'm a bus driver, and there's a pelican crossing regulating the exit from the bus station where I'm based. Pedestrians walking along the pavement are vaguely aware of a bus on the driveway, don't notice the little red pedestrian signal, assume the bus is waiting to let them cross (as if!) and? step out. As they do so the bus's light finally goes green and the driver starts moving slowly; pedestrian jumps back in shock and horror... I agree completely.
